INFO:
The difference between baby spit up and vomiting 🤮 ❓This is a very common concern among parents- how can I tell if this is spit up or not, it seems like a lot! 💚 Infants have an immature esophageal sphincter, which is what keeps our stomach contents down. This means that milk flows back up easily, called “reflux”. It is normal for your baby to spit up after feeding. Most will outgrow reflux between 9-12 months. 💚 Some babies may experience a more serious form of reflux, called gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), which can cause problems like poor weight gain, painu002Firritability, and respiratory symptoms. There is treatment for GERD, so talk to your pediatrician if you think this is an issue for your baby. 💚 Forceful vomiting is not normal in and infant, and could be caused by something called “pyloric stenosis”. If your baby has forceful vomiting, call your pediatrician so causes can be investigated.
